Sewing skills and a love of fabrics passed down through generations.
In 1961 my grandfather opened Rittinger’s Men’s Wear, a shop in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, which employed a full time seamstress and still operates to this day. Some of my fondest memories are of visiting my grandmother at the fabric shop where she worked when I was a child. My mother began teaching me to sew at a very young age. With her help, I made my first pair of pants sitting on her lap at the age of four! I still use the gorgeous Singer fabric shears that were her graduation gift from university in 1974.
